Abstract

In this paper, four samples of some binary and triple alloys (Al ,Cu, Pb) have been studied theoretically and experimentally. For the gamma rays shielding parameters , good agreement observed between theoretical and experimental values for each of mass attenuation coefficient (μ_m), half-value layers (HVL), mean free path (MFP) radiation protection efficiency (RPE) of the samples , where the theoretical measurements were carried out using XCOM program in the energy range from 1 keV to 100 GeV , and practical values for 662, 1173, and 1332 keV gamma-ray energies of 137Cs and 60Co radiation sources. Using NaI(Tl) detector. an attempt was made to study experimentally and theoretically the effect of the lead concentration on various shielding parameters of the leaded Bronzes (Al-Cu-Pb) alloys, for this reason, four samples were prepared by the smelting method with different compositions. The Leaded Bronzes alloys were mainly used for bearings due to their good wear resistance, also is less expensive when compared to other bearings alloys.
